The more I dig into God’s Word the more I discover things in my life that I need to change. Even though I grew up learning God’s Word I know that there are still a lot more bad habits in my life that God is sure to reveal to me. Sometimes….This fact can be a little overwhelming.
I imagine the early Church felt the same way. They all grew up under the old laws. Those around them practiced the old laws and being a Christian had the potential to get them killed. Not to mention the fact most of the things that they did had become a habit. Yet, striving daily to walk with Christ despite the struggles around them was important. Breaking the bad habits that had formed after years of faithfulness helped to strengthen their testimony.
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?
It would have been easy for them to fall back into old habits and patterns. They were things that they were used to. Not to mention the fact that their lives would have been easier. However, when God reveals Himself to you there is no turning back.
Just like today, I imagine they struggled to try to live up to the life that God had called them to live. Yet, Paul reminded them (and us) that despite the struggles they were blessed because they were no longer under the old laws.
It is always good to be made much of for a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you.
Being viewed differently because you are striving to be a good steward of Christ is a great thing.
Having bad habits revealed to you is a good thing because it means that God is still working on you.
Jesus Christ is far more important than anything that this world has to offer.
What bad habit has God revealed to you?
